A war of words between citizens of Nigeria and Ghana is ongoing on Twitter, where users from both countries are currently slugging it out in a battle for supremacy.
Trouble started on Sunday, after Cardi B, American rapper, left Nigeria for Ghana. Upon arrival, she was called out by some Ghanaian celebrities for not showing up at a “meet and greet” session.
In response to the accusations, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper took to Instagram live to apologise and explain that she had no idea there was an arrangement like that, because it wasn’t in her contract.
During the live session, she also revealed that she had endured a stomach ache that day, while reports emerged that her concert in Ghana suffered power outage.
Shortly after the live session, there was a deluge of reactions on social media platforms, where some Nigerian internet users threw barbs at their Ghanaian counterparts.
A segment of users in Ghana also responded to the jabs and it became a trending topic on Twitter.
“It’s Ghana o, they gave Cardi B sacrifice to eat,” a Twitter user said.
“Research has shown that people who are sad make the most jokes. Yeah, that’s why Nigerians are better than us when it comes to comedy! When you’re ruled by Buhari, you need laughter to keep you alive,” a Ghanaian user said.
