French legend has insisted that Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not a top player and used FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi to justify his argument.
Christophe Dugarry, a retired French international, believes the towering Swede cannot be considered a great player, as he does not make his teammates better, like Messi does at the Catalan club.
“For me, Zlatan isn’t a great player,” he told RMC Sport.
“I’ve said it over 200 million times. Because for me, with very great players, you never have problems and they make others better. “Who could say that Messi would leave a bit of room to Neymar and Luis Suarez? And yet, he does.”
Despite Dugarry’s comments, Ibrahimovic is widely considered as one of the best strikers to play the game, and his goal record proves just that.
The 35-year-old has scored 400 club career goals, playing for clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam, Inter Milan, Juventus, AC Milan, Barca, Paris Saint-Germain and United.
