Kelechi Iheanacho’s tap-in proved to be the winner, as Manchester City
defeated rivals, Manchester United, 2-1 at Old Trafford to continue
their perfect start under Pep Guardiola.
Kevin De Bruyne had already opened scoring, after he latched onto
Iheanacho’s flicked header and finished coolly past David De Gea.
It was the Belgian’s effort that came off the bar, for Iheanacho to double City’s advantage.
The goal means that he becomes the first Nigerian to appear and score
in the Derby. The 19-year-old also became the youngest ever player to
score in the fixture.
Iheanacho is expected to get more playing time, with Sergio Aguero still suspended for their next two domestic games.
