The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, on Sunday said the All
Progressives Congress, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had
concluded plans to rig the governorship election which would hold on
Wednesday September 28.
A statement issued in Benin city by its governorship candidate, Osaro
Onaiwu, said that with less than 72 hours to the election, “more
disturbing facts and information” had continued to reach him on efforts
being made by the major parties to influence those in charge to help rig
the election.
Onaiwu said, the ruling party APC and the PDP knowing that “APGA is
the party on ground, have decided to manipulate the process to their
advantage.
“We just want to alert the public and the security agents that the
will of the people should not be allowed to be tempered with, we are
law-abiding people, and we want our votes to count.
“APC and PDP have been accusing each other of plans to rig, while the
true position is that they have both perfected plans to rig the
people’s party, APGA, out.”
Onaiwu urged security agents “to as a matter of urgency step up their
intelligence gathering so as to prevent this evil plans by both parties
to rig the election.”
The APGA candidate appealed to his supporters to remain calm as he had the belief that their votes would count.
