History:Port Harcourt City Named After A Homosexual Rapist

The city of Port Harcourt is named after an English peadophile convict who was caught raping children. He never even visited Nigeria or ‘Port Harcourt’. He had no relevance to Africans.
The city of Port Harcourt was originally known as Ugwu Ocha by the original owners. Frederick Lugard, Governor-General of Nigeria in the 1910s referred to it as ‘Iguocha’ (Ugwu Ocha).
However the same Lugard felt this name wasn’t “convenient” enough so he re-named it after his colleague, Lewis Harcourt who committed suicide after he was caught with a little boy.
Every once in a while I remember Ugwu Ocha is still being referred to as “Port Harcourt”, and then my body produces salt.
