There is enough reason to believe that if the African
continent was allowed the chance to evolve on its own natural direction without
the interruption of the Europeans, may be by now we would have evolved effective
indigenous, albeit spiritual, mechanisms of innovating and solving problems, quite
different and better than what the white man has led us to today.
I am quite convinced that by now we could be going into
space without rockets propulsion; visiting and exploring the stars and the
planets and coming back in no time without spaceships; traveling between cities
and countries in a twinkle of an eye without cars and airplanes; splitting,
fusing and harnessing atoms without dangerous and destructive procedures;
watching live events, freezing things and doing everyday chores without intrusive electronics; controlling excesses
from forces of nature: wind, fire and water; curing and treating ailments and
diseases; a foolproof justice system that not only punishes the right
perpetrators but able to foresee and detect crimes in advance as well as in
real time; a prophetic system that could identify future catastrophes or disaster
with solutions.
Now we can only rue what could have been. We would not have
had air pollution; we would not have had degradation and deforestation of
rainforests to make way for roads and rail lines and airports; climate change
and global warming would have been prevented; tons of money would have been
saved; wars could have been prevented and lives saved. Tsunamis, flood, wild
raging fires, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions would have been foretold,
thwarted or controlled; air crashes, traffic accidents and space mishap would
not have existed; miscarriages of justice would not have been heard of!
Dibias, sages and prophets of old were doing these. They
traveled great distances without moving a limb, they see into the future to
prevent catastrophes. Our dibias watched events through crystal balls,
water-in-a-bowl or mirrors without electronics. Medicine men treated ailments
without surgery. Moses moved an entire nation across a sea without ships or
bridges. Jesus Christ controlled forces of nature: storm without fancy science,
he moved between cities without machines, he treated and cured ailments without
bitter pills. African development and evolution was headed in this general direction,
until the white boys came and interrupted and scuttled everything. By now this
knowledge would have been further refined, further developed, made widely
available and accessible, and applied to new problems and challenges as we, Africa evolved.
The spiritual mechanisms have always been there. Call it
voodoo, wizardry, spells, mind over matter, psychic projections, astral travel,
prophecies, miracles, power of God, word of God or else. The fact remains that
these have been harnessed in the past to great benefits and stress free; if had
been allowed to evolve; the chaff would have been separated from the juice over
the course of our unhindered history to our immense benefits.
But as they often say, this is a white man’s world. In his
world shit happens. Paraphrasing Kanye West, shit is the new fragrance. Enjoy
